The side reactions and over use of drugs which result as anaphylactic shock, blood dyscrasias, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, teratogenic effects, behavioral changes, drug poisoning etc. often occur.
So many medicolegal autopsies, regarded as side reaction or over use of drugs were performed and those cases were increase yearly.
Now we made an attempt at the statistical consideration in aspect of those problems by medico-legal autopsy cases which had performed in National Institute of Scientif?c Investigation from 1961 to 1980 (9, 999 cases in all).
The results were as follows.
1. The total problem cases were 644 (6.4%).
2. The true accidental cases (death due to side reaction or over use of drugs) were 51 (0.5%).
3. Among them, death due to anaphylactic shock by antibiotics cases were 36, respiratory depression by over dosage of anesthetics were 7 cases, central nervous depression by over use of sedatives was 1 case and miscellaneous cases were 7.
